An independent fact-finding mission has warned that expanding drone warfare and severe repression in El-Obeid are increasing risks to civilians amid Sudan’s ongoing conflict.

The mission said the conflict was spreading geographically and becoming more technologically advanced, exposing civilians to greater danger.

“The conflict is becoming more geographically extensive, more technologically sophisticated, very dangerous for civilians,” the mission said.

The warning highlights growing concerns over the impact of evolving military tactics and repression on civilians caught up in the conflict.

Further details on the mission’s findings were not provided in the statement.
