The United States has imposed sanctions on two individuals and one entity accused of supporting Iran’s efforts to acquire shoulder-fired air defence missiles.

In a statement, the US government said the measures were part of Operation Economic Outcast, an initiative aimed at disrupting the Iranian regime’s arms procurement networks.

Washington said the latest action was intended to weaken the supply channels through which Iran seeks to obtain military equipment, particularly shoulder-fired air defence systems.

The sanctions mark another step in US efforts to restrict Iran’s access to weapons and related procurement networks.

The announcement did not identify the sanctioned individuals or entity in the information provided.
