Tickets for the highly anticipated Bayern Munich vs Ajax Amsterdam encounter scheduled for January 5, 2027, will officially go on sale on Thursday, November 5, at 6:00 pm EAT, with prices starting at KSh2,500.
The historic match will mark the official inauguration of the Raila Odinga International Stadium at Talanta Sports City, bringing two of Europe’s most celebrated football clubs to Kenyan soil.In a press statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports confirmed that tickets will be sold exclusively through the official Talanta Sports City website.
The tickets will be released in phases across different seating categories, with supporters encouraged to purchase early as availability in sold-out categories will not be guaranteed during subsequent sales windows.
The Ministry has also cautioned fans against fraudulent transactions, urging them to use official ticketing channels and make payments only to verified accounts.
The encounter is expected to offer more than just a football match, with organisers promising a 12-hour fan festival featuring leading international artists, world-class entertainment, dedicated concierge services and other activities celebrating sporting excellence.
Skyboxes and premium hospitality packages will also be available, with interested parties directed to hospitality.talantasportscity.com for enquiries and bookings.
In a major assurance to Kenyan football fans, both Bayern Munich and Ajax have reportedly made written commitments to field their strongest possible first-team line-ups for the encounter.
“Let me be absolutely clear: this will not be a legends match or an academy-team exhibition. Both clubs have committed to presenting their strongest possible first-team line-ups,” the statement reads.
The commitment is expected to enhance the appeal of the fixture, which will bring elite European football talent to Kenya for an international spectacle.
Beyond the inauguration of the new stadium, the match will also serve as a major test for Kenya’s preparedness to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) alongside Uganda and Tanzania.
The Ministry says the encounter will provide an opportunity to assess stadium operations, security arrangements, transport systems, hospitality services, crowd management and other critical infrastructure under international match conditions.
The government also views the event as an opportunity to position Kenya as a leading destination for international sporting events, attract investment and unlock the economic potential of sports tourism.
According to the statement, the encounter has secured full funding through private-sector support, which the government says demonstrates growing corporate confidence in Kenya’s sports industry.
The January 5 fixture is expected to be a significant milestone in Kenya’s sporting journey as the country prepares to welcome two European football giants for the official opening of the Raila Odinga International Stadium.
