The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has raised KSh70.86 billion from the reopening of 15-year and 30-year Treasury bonds after receiving bids worth KSh99.47 billion, nearly double its KSh50 billion target.

According to auction results released on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, the two reopened bonds attracted a combined KSh99.47 billion in bids, representing a performance rate of 198.93 per cent.

The 15-year Treasury bond, FXD3/2019/015, attracted bids worth KSh37.07 billion, with the CBK accepting KSh29.90 billion.

The bond has a coupon rate of 12.34 per cent and is due on July 10, 2034.

Meanwhile, the 30-year Treasury bond, FXD1/2026/030, received bids worth KSh62.40 billion, with KSh40.95 billion accepted by the government.

The bond carries a coupon rate of 12.5 per cent and will mature on March 13, 2056.

The 30-year bond attracted stronger investor demand, accounting for approximately KSh62.40 billion of the total bids received.

The auction results indicate that KSh40.46 billion of the amount raised will go towards redemptions, while the remaining KSh30.40 billion will be used for new borrowing and net repayment.

The CBK’s weighted average rates of accepted bids stood at 12.7404 per cent for the 15-year bond and 14.1266 per cent for the 30-year bond.

The results reflect sustained investor appetite for government securities, with total bids significantly exceeding the amount initially offered.

The CBK also announced that details of forthcoming Treasury bond issues for November 2026, including their tenors, amounts and coupon rates, will be provided in the respective prospectuses ahead of the issue dates.
