American R&B star Ne-Yo returned to Nairobi on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, for a Mashujaa Day concert that brought together music fans for a celebration of his decades-long career.
The three-time Grammy Award winner headlined the One Night Only: Brunch Edition event at Ulinzi Sports Complex, marking his first performance in the Kenyan capital in 11 years.
The event, organised by Fenon Premium Productions and Radio Africa Group, was sold out, according to reports, with the venue transformed into a themed setting featuring elaborate décor and live food stations.
Ne-Yo arrived in Kenya on Monday evening ahead of the show, which ran from 3pm to 11pm.
The singer, whose real name is Shaffer Chimere Smith, is known for hit songs including “So Sick,” “Because of You,” “Closer” and “Miss Independent.”
His return offered Kenyan fans an opportunity to reconnect with the music that established him as one of contemporary R&B’s recognised performers.
The concert also came months after the release of his album Highway 79, marking another chapter in a career that spans music, songwriting and screen appearances.
Beyond his own recordings, Ne-Yo has written songs for major international artists, including Rihanna and Beyoncé, further cementing his place in the global music industry.
His previous visit to Nairobi was for the third season of Coke Studio Africa, where he collaborated with artists from across the continent.
The Mashujaa Day performance marked a long-awaited return for fans who had followed his music since his earlier visit to Kenya.
