Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has endorsed Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga for the presidency in 2032, calling on the Mt Kenya region to support her bid in the interest of national inclusivity.

Passaris said Kenya needs to rotate the presidency across different regions to promote inclusivity and ensure more communities have an opportunity to lead the country.

“In 2032, I want Governor Wanga to be the President,” Passaris declared.

She further appealed to the Mt Kenya region to rally behind Wanga, arguing that sharing the country’s top leadership position across regions would strengthen national unity.

“And I would like Mt. Kenya to rally behind her because we need to rotate that seat so that Kenya becomes inclusive,” she stated.

The remarks place Wanga, a prominent political figure in the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), in the spotlight as discussions about possible contenders for the 2032 presidential election begin to emerge.

Wanga, who became Homa Bay governor in 2022, has established herself as a key figure in national politics and within ODM, where she has held influential leadership positions.

Passaris’ endorsement also highlights the growing debate over regional representation and the need to broaden political leadership beyond traditional power bases.

With the 2027 General Election still ahead, the 2032 succession conversation remains at an early stage, with political alliances and potential candidates expected to evolve as the country’s political landscape develops.
