Police have intensified the crackdown on illegal alcohol production networks after destroying more than 7,000 litres of illicit brews during a targeted operation in Soweto, Nairobi County.
The operation was conducted on Thursday, November 5, 2026, by officers from Kasarani Sub-County as part of ongoing efforts by the National Police Service (NPS) to dismantle illegal alcohol manufacturing establishments within Nairobi Region.
According to the police, officers recovered and destroyed 4,000 litres of kangara, 2,800 litres of molasses, 160 litres of chang’aa and 80 litres of muratina during the raid.
The officers also dismantled brewing apparatus and distilling equipment suspected to have been used in the production of the illegal alcoholic drinks.
