Politician Rose Mbithe Mulwa, her two children and two police constables have been charged with the murder of prominent city lawyer Mathew Kyalo Mbobu.
The five accused persons were arraigned before the Kibera High Court on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, where they pleaded not guilty to the murder charge before Lady Justice Diana Kavedza.
The accused are Rose Mbithe Mulwa, her children Chris Mulwa and Angela Mulwa, and police constables Julius Kipkoech Cheruiyot and Kennedy Kipkemoi Borboroi.
According to the particulars of the charge, the five, jointly with others who have not been brought before the court, allegedly murdered Mbobu on September 9, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. along Magadi Road in Karen, within Lang’ata Sub-County, Nairobi.
The case marks a second murder prosecution against Rose Mbithe and her two children, who are also facing charges in connection with the killing of Dr. Victoria Mutiso.
During the court proceedings, the prosecution informed the court of its intention to charge Police Inspector Kenneth Sang in connection with Mbobu’s murder.
Sang was arrested in Eldoret and presented before the Milimani Law Courts on Monday. The court subsequently authorised his continued detention for 14 days to allow the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to complete its investigations.
The Kibera High Court directed the prosecution to file an affidavit opposing the accused persons’ release on bond, paving the way for the hearing of the bond application on November 24, 2026.
