President William Ruto is expected to attend the third Russia-Africa Summit scheduled for October 28–29 in Moscow, Russia.
The summit will be co-chaired by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Burundi’s President Évariste Ndayishimiye, who is the current African Union Chairperson.
Discussions are expected to focus on politics, trade, investment, science, technology and culture, as Russia and African countries seek to strengthen cooperation across several sectors.
According to the summit organisers, the meeting aims to expand cooperation between Russia and African nations in areas including security, economic relations, science and technology, and cultural and humanitarian affairs.
The first Russia-Africa Summit was held in Sochi on October 23–24, 2019, under the theme “For Peace, Security and Development.” Participants adopted a closing declaration outlining priority areas for future cooperation.
The third summit comes as Russia and African countries continue to engage on trade, investment and broader diplomatic relations.
