Irish airline Ryanair is considering expanding its use of artificial intelligence as it prepares for potentially higher operating costs in the coming financial year.

The airline has warned that fuel expenses could increase by approximately €2 billion, prompting discussions about cost-saving measures, including greater use of AI in its operations.

The company is also considering changes to staffing costs and operational arrangements as it prepares for a challenging period for the aviation industry.

Ryanair has warned that higher fuel expenses could put pressure on ticket prices, with fares potentially increasing by up to 20 per cent.

The developments highlight how airlines are exploring technology and operational changes to manage rising costs while maintaining competitive ticket prices.
