The United States has condemned an October 23 attack in Nigeria’s Taraba State in which at least 62 people, including children, were killed.
In a statement, US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs said Washington extended its condolences to the victims and their families, calling for justice and protection of civilians.
The US urged the Nigerian government to hold those responsible for the killings accountable and take steps to ensure citizens can live safely and peacefully.
The statement also emphasised the victims’ right to live freely and without fear of violence.
