The 2026/27 FKF Premier League, popularly known as the SportPesa League, enters Matchweek Five this weekend, with defending champions Gor Mahia facing a stern test against second-placed KCB in one of the standout fixtures.
The weekend programme, running from Saturday, October 31, to Monday, November 2, presents an opportunity for teams to strengthen their positions as the early-season title race begins to take shape.
Gor Mahia head into the round at the summit with 12 points from four matches, having registered four consecutive victories. Their latest outing saw them secure a 1-0 away victory over Kakamega Homeboyz on Wednesday, October 28.
K’Ogalo will now turn their attention to KCB, who occupy second place with seven points, as they seek to maintain their perfect start to the campaign.
The bankers, however, will be determined to upset the champions and narrow the five-point gap separating the two sides. A victory for KCB would significantly change the complexion of the early title race.
Another intriguing encounter will see AFC Leopards take on Kakamega Homeboyz on Sunday.
Ingwe will be looking to build momentum after a goalless draw against Mara Sugar in midweek, while Homeboyz will be eager to recover from their defeat to Gor Mahia.
Shabana will also be seeking maximum points when they face Kenya Police FC. The Glamour Boys settled for a 1-1 draw against Migori Youth in their previous fixture, while Police secured a 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars.
Meanwhile, APS Bomet will host Murang’a Seal in another competitive fixture. Both sides head into the encounter following encouraging midweek performances, with APS beating 3K FC 3-0 and Murang’a Seal defeating Nairobi United 3-2.
Nairobi United will seek to bounce back when they face Bandari, while the coastal side will be looking to improve their position following a goalless draw against Posta Rangers.
Monday’s fixtures will see Ulinzi Stars face Mathare United, Posta Rangers take on 3K FC, and Tusker entertain Mara Sugar as the fifth matchweek concludes.
With Gor Mahia setting the early pace, attention will be on whether the champions can extend their winning run or whether KCB and the chasing pack can close the gap at the top.
