Hollywood actor Johnny Depp has hinted that he could reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a future instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean, saying he would want the franchise to end on a better note.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight during the promotional tour for his upcoming film Ebenezer, Depp was asked about the possibility of returning for the sixth instalment following comments by producer Jerry Bruckheimer that the two were discussing the project.

Depp stopped short of confirming his return but said he would consider being involved if the next film could give the long-running franchise a fitting conclusion.

“The only involvement I really want to have, truly, is just to send them off on a better note,” he said.

The actor also spoke warmly about his relationship with Bruckheimer, saying he trusted the producer and would be willing to work with him again.

“I will go to work with Bruckheimer tomorrow for anything,” Depp said, describing their relationship as a deep friendship.

Bruckheimer has previously expressed interest in bringing Depp back for another film, confirming in August that they were in discussions and that work was continuing on a screenplay.

Depp played Jack Sparrow in five films released between 2003 and 2017. The franchise has generated approximately $4.5 billion worldwide, making it one of Disney’s major film properties.

His possible return has remained a subject of speculation since his departure from the franchise following his highly publicised legal battles.

There is, however, no official confirmation that Depp has signed on for Pirates of the Caribbean 6.

The actor is also preparing for the release of Ebenezer, a new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, scheduled to open in cinemas on November 13, 2026.
