American rock band My Chemical Romance has released an animated short film featuring the voices of singers Billie Eilish and Phoebe Bridgers.
Titled Prelude to the End, the film was created in collaboration with visual artist Lauren Tsai and was released on October 29, 2026.
The story follows Astrid, a student at a boarding school in New England, who discovers an unusual world after falling down a garbage chute while searching for her sketchbook.
Bridgers voices Astrid’s sister, while Eilish plays a close friend. Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima also features as a character known as the Teacher, while actor John C. McGinley voices the Dean.
The film was released shortly after the band issued a 20th-anniversary reissue of its album The Black Parade.
My Chemical Romance also scheduled screenings of the short film during its October 30 and 31 performances at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
