Human rights organisation VOCAL Africa has raised concern over the reported abduction of Vincent Isigi, popularly known as “Sultan,” a youth leader and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) official in Mlango Kubwa, Mathare, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

In a statement following a visit to Mathare to establish the circumstances surrounding his disappearance, the organisation detailed how Isigi was allegedly bundled into a vehicle by unknown individuals on the night of Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

According to a witness cited by VOCAL Africa, Isigi had earlier dropped off his friends using his motorbike before heading home.

Residents living along the street where the incident reportedly occurred told the organisation that a black Toyota Prado had been parked nearby for approximately 20 minutes, allegedly waiting for him.

At around 10:00 p.m., Isigi reportedly arrived at the location and was forcibly bundled into the vehicle by the occupants.

His motorbike was subsequently left behind, with its key still in the ignition. Also found were bread and milk he had reportedly purchased for his family shortly before the incident.

The organisation further revealed that family members and friends launched a search for him on Wednesday, October 28, visiting several police stations and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) offices around Obama in Mathare in an attempt to establish his whereabouts.

At Obama Police Station in Saika, officers reportedly informed them that Isigi was not in police custody.

Despite the search, his whereabouts remain unknown, raising concerns among his family, friends and members of the local community.

VOCAL Africa’s intervention comes amid growing concerns over the safety of individuals following reports of abductions and enforced disappearances in the country.

The circumstances surrounding Isigi’s disappearance, the identities of the alleged abductors and his current whereabouts remain unconfirmed.
