Three suspects have been arrested in connection with attacks on residents of Getumo and Omonyenya villages in Kenyenya Sub-County, Kisii County, that left two people dead and nine others injured.

Kenyenya Deputy County Commissioner William K. Bett announced the arrests during a public baraza at Omonyenya Three Village, saying the suspects would assist police with ongoing investigations. Two other suspects are still being sought.

Bett also raised concerns over what he described as laxity among members of the community policing team in the area. He announced that fresh elections for the team would be held on Saturday.

The deputy county commissioner urged all victims of the attacks to record statements with the police, warning that cases could fail in court where there is insufficient evidence.

He further called on residents to work closely with security agencies by sharing information and reporting suspicious activities to help restore security in the affected villages.

The investigations are ongoing as authorities pursue the two remaining suspects.
