Kenyan content creator and amateur boxer Mbavu Destroyer has teamed up with environmental activist Truphena Muthoni and Australian environmentalist Jimi Cohen for a proposed initiative targeting the planting of one billion trees in Kenya within 24 hours.
The trio announced the plan in a video shared on social media on Sunday, November 1, outlining an ambitious project scheduled for April 22, 2027, to coincide with World Earth Day.
Cohen said he would first attempt to plant more trees in a single day than any individual had previously managed, with the challenge forming part of a wider national reforestation campaign.
The proposed initiative is also expected to support efforts to mobilise communities across the country for a nationwide tree-planting exercise.
Mbavu, known for his social media content and boxing activities, joined Muthoni in promoting the project, bringing together entertainment, sport and environmental advocacy.
The organisers are yet to provide further details on the planned locations and how the proposed target will be coordinated across the country.
